The Spirit Breath Meditation discipline is a Vipassana based, breath centered meditation practice. Vipassana is a style of meditation originating in the Buddhist tradition. The practice encourages mental clarity, spiritual unfolding, and attentiveness to the moment. Through focus on the sacred power of the breath, this meditation practice promotes a sense of calm, equanimity and wisdom.

Practically speaking, Vipassana is the integration of the 'following of the breath' with the ‘observation and noting’ of your mental and physical state any given moment. Breath is the essence of personal vitality. The observation and noting of your ever-changing mental and physical phenomena is a technique which enhances your ability to remain in the present moment in both your meditation discipline as well in your everyday routine. Approaching the joys and challenges of daily life from a present moment perspective has multiple benefits. These benefits transcend the meditation practice and enhance a full life journey.

The Spirit Breath Meditation can be practiced lying down, sitting-up, or walking. While the discipline comes out of the Buddhist tradition it does not subscribe to any dogma or faith. The underlying assumption is that you are inherently whole and filled with Grace. It is anxiety, worry and fear that separate you from your potential for wholeness. Incorporating the strategies of the Spirit Breath Meditation will encourage your mind to actively choose health and wellbeing as your ever present life condition.  Join us in our weekly guided Spirit Breath Meditation discipline. This offering is appropriate for beginners as well as established meditators.

A guided Spirit Breath meditation CD is in the works! You will be able to sink into your favorite, comfy chair and follow the short or longer version of the Spirit Breath meditation. Look for availibility details in "This Week at Spirit House."
